Andrew is Special Counsel for PLN based out of Brisbane and Port Moresby. He grew up in (and is from) Papua New Guinea and has worked across the Pacific as both external and in-house counsel. He has a unique understanding of the Pacific and doing business in the region and is fluent in Tok Pisin and Motu.
Andrew’s key experience is in telecommunications law and regulation and single and multi-jurisdictional mergers and acquisitions. His experience also extends to banking and finance, corporate compliance, foreign investment compliance and general commercial advice. Andrew personally liaises and coordinates with local counsel, Government officials, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to make it easier for clients to do business in the Pacific.
Andrew also spent over eight years as senior in-house counsel for a multinational covering multiple Pacific jurisdictions. He was a key adviser to senior management, boards and shareholders on legal, regulatory, compliance, corporate governance and business development issues. This experience gives him a unique insight into the day-to-day management and operation of businesses, which he uses to provide clients with commercially focused and practical legal advice.
Andrew is also the Principal of Kidu Lawyers in Port Moresby and holds an Unrestricted Practising Certificate from the Papua New Guinea Law Society. He is a Professional Member of the Papua New Guinea Institute of Directors.
